AQUABIOPRO-FIT participated in the 34th EFFoST Online conference by taking part in the Special session dedicated to valorisation of side streams. Dr Tone Aspevik (Nofima, Norway), discussed ‘Valorisation of side stream materials from fisheries and aquaculture – bioactivity and sensory properties’. AQUABIOPRO-FIT is a BBI project, which will develop high-quality proteins and bioactives from European aquaculture, fisheries and agriculture side streams for applications in fitness, health and animal feed.

Every year the European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST) organises this prestigious academic food science and technology conference to facilitate knowledge and technology exchange among food professionals and to promote connection and collaboration between food scientists and technologists.

This year the EFFoST2020 conference “Bridging hi-tech, food-tech and health: Consumer oriented innovations” was held online, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated health concerns. More than 500 delegates from all over the world attended EFFoST2020, where world-renowned researchers, scientists, policy makers, professionals and students from multidisciplinary food-related fields participated and shared the latest developments. The conference offered 25+ sessions, 9 plenary talks, 90+ expert talks, 300+ poster presentations, working group meetings, and EU projects and associations in special sessions alongside official scientific programme.
